Childhood and youth of Jesus

Note: Important information regarding the layout, background, as well as purpose and goal for this study I have put together in the Preface.

The two gospels which both had a genealogy als record further details about Jesus' childhood and youth.

In Luke, we are first given information about certain events which happened just prior to the conception and birth of Jesus and which have to do with John the baptist who was in certain respects the forerunner of Jesus. We learn details about the circumstances of Jesus' birth, and the records do show especially how Jesus is, because of God's working in the life of the virgin Mary at the time of conception, indeed the only begotten Son of God.

We also learn that alread in his childhood, enemies were seeking Jesus' life and trying to kill him, and how he was not accepted of his own, whereas foreigner from afar came a long distance to adore him as the newborn king of the Jews.

Finally, there is only one more event recorded from Jesus' later childhood and youth, when he at the age of twelve years went up with Mary and Josef to afeast to Jerusalem and where he showed himself already very knowledgeable of the Scriptures so that even some of the scribes were quite astonished at him.

The gospel records then mention next events which occurred when Jesus was already about 30 years old and when his public ministry was about to begin. This section then encompasses the time period of the Ministry of John the baptist; from Jesus' baptism by John in Jordan several weeks before the passa, the 40 days of temptation in the wilderness, the events before and at the passover feast and afterwards what happened at Pentecost that year shortly after John had been imprisoned.
